Come on in, it’s not as scary as it sounds.
Well, maybe it is, but come on in anyways.
You see, Nasty has been hungry for homemade bread. My dad used to bake it all the time and I used to help. Mostly just helped to eat it, but I was learning.
Found a recipe on line that a bunch were just raving about, so figured I’d give it a try. Here is the recipe:
3 cups all purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon yeast (the recipe calls for instant yeast, but I used a regular yeast packet and mixed it up the way the packet said)
1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
Mix it all together, it doesn’t take long. Let it set, covered for about 12 – 18 hours, put dough on floured work surface, flatten it out (about a 12″ circle), then fold it in half, fold the corners into the center, place in pan and bake.
The bread is baked in a dutch oven or stock pot (pyrex is said to work too).
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees with the dutch oven and lid inside.
Place folded dough into screaming hot dutch oven, put lid on, close the oven and bake for 25 minutes. Then take the lid off, and bake for 13 more minutes.
