I have tried a new bread recipe. A slight variance in ingredients whereas this one uses 1 teaspoon of yeast.
Here is the recipe:
3 cups of flour
2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of active dry yeast (I now buy the little jars of yeast)
1 and 2/3 cups of hot water (I just let my tap water get hot and use that)
Mix flour, salt and yeast together. Add water and mix it all up – comes together quickly. Cover it with a towel and let rise for 18 to 24 hours (depending on my work schedule). Dump it onto a floured surface and form it into a ball, let it rise for 2 hours and put it in my Dutch Oven that has been sitting in a 45o degree oven.
Put the lid on it and bake for 45 minutes. Take the lid off and bake for 15 more minutes. Dump it on a wire rack and let cool.
Note: I make 2 batches, then combine both batches, let rise and put in Dutch Oven. Makes for a big round loaf.
